Hi! I'm Khari Al-Mateen. I'm a senior at Baltimore Polytechnic Institute.
I am a three-sport athlete; I play football, baseball, and I run Indoor Track.
My goal is to get a scholarship to college to play football.
I have two brothers and two sisters. My brothers go by the name of Kamal, who is 12, and Khasan, who is about a month old!
He's an excellent addition to the family. He is our future architect/football player/president! I enjoy playing with him
because it soothes any stress and takes me back to a time when I was just as carefree. However, he does cry an awful lot, which
unfortunately sometimes adds to my stress
I'm currently searching for a college. University of Maine, McDaniel College,and Howard University are my top three choices,
all because they are heavily recruiting me to play football on a scholarship. I have been playing football since the tender age of 10.
Therefore, I am excited to have the opportunity to be the first male in my family to go on to college thanks to my God-Given talent
I'm also a hard and persistent worker who shines of optimism and opportunity.
In school, I enjoy studying architecture because
of the aesthetic quality that it entails. Also, an architect is "self-employed," meaning I am able to manifest my own ideas as well
as having the ability to manage my time the way I like. Fortunately, I attend Baltimore Polytechnic Institute, which is a math, science,
and engineering based school. They have prepared me very well for my future career. The math courses that I take are extremely rigorous
and demanding of my intellect. The engineering courses have taught me to "think outside the box" and explore my more creative side. Lastly,
the science classes at Poly have given me practical problem solving skills. Hopefully, when I make my way into the real world, these courses
will prove to be just as helpful as I imagine.
NOW FOR SOMETHING FUN
During my spare time, I enjoy engaging in several different activities. My favorite thing to is go to the movies. Recently, I went to
see the awesome movie AVATAR !!! It was honestly one of the best movies I've seen in a long time. It was action-packed and
full of exciting colors and adventure. I also look forward to seeing The Book of ELI starring Denzel Washington. I have heard
various criticism of the film and its seems to be very interesting and exciting. I hope it is as good as advertised. Other than the movies, I enjoy
hanging out with my family. It's nice to take a break from the demands of the social atmosphere and enjoy the harmony of everyone together.
